Purchase a Yearbook
Chess Club is a fun, casual way for kids to start their mornings with a great game! Parents can sign students in at 8:20 a.m. through the side door by the cafeteria. Kids are encouraged to grab a board, sit at a table, and enjoy playing together—whether they’re new to the game and just learning the basics or already sharpening their strategies. To keep things safe (and fun!), the stage area is off-limits, and running around isn’t part of the game plan. Parents are always welcome to stick around, sit with their child, and see the club in action.
No advance sign-up is required, and players are welcome to visit anytime over the year as interest and scheduling allow.
What do we do at Chess Club?
● Work with new players to get them to a basic level of knowledge to start playing the game
● Provide opportunities for kids to play matches with each other to test and develop their skills
● Review chess puzzles to work on tactics and strategy
● Have fun playing chess!
Chess club is open to all Division Street students in Grades K-5, and no prior knowledge of the game is necessary.
Upcoming Dates (Tuesday mornings @ 8:20am): 9/16, 9/30, 10/14, 10/28, 11/18, 12/2
