9/30/2025: We still need more family volunteers to decorate cars for the Trunk or Treat!
We would love to get at least 15 decorated cars! As a volunteer we ask you to arrive by 4:45PM and light decoration of your trunk/car. Again PTA will provide the treats!
Please sign up here for a trunk or treat car, or to be an activity table parent volunteer: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0E4CAAAA2DA75-58858958-trunk#/
The Trunk or Treat event at the Saratoga YMCA will take place on Friday 10/24 from 5 - 7 PM. Students and their families can "trunk or treat" at participating cars, and enjoy a couple of fall activities at the pavilion, as well as the playground.
This will be a free event for the entire family. Food available for purchase from Neighborhood Kitchen food truck. Check out their menu below!
We hope to see everyone in our school community there! The flyer also went home with students this week.
9/30/2025: We are excited to share that Division Street Elementary was recently named a 2024-2026 National PTA School of Excellence - one of only 330 PTAs and schools nationwide to be recognized with this designation (and one in only 24 PTAs in New York State!) National PTA’s School of Excellence program supports and celebrates partnerships between PTAs and schools that strengthen connections with families and work to improve the educational experience and school environment for every child.
Decades of research show that family engagement and family-school partnerships are just as essential as other school improvement strategies. Becoming a National PTA School of Excellence began with the joint commitment of our PTA and administrative team to work together to welcome all families, communicate effectively, support student success, speak up for every child, share power and collaborate with the community. Based on survey responses from our school community, we continue to work on improving communication and access to community events.
However, the path to excellence is a journey, not a destination, and we encourage your continued participation toward our goals. We are always open to additional feedback on how we can improve awareness and communication on happenings in and around our school. We also look forward to welcoming all Classroom Coordinators at our next PTA meeting on October 9th to discuss ways to increase communication between the PTA, classrooms and our school families. Thank you for your continued commitment to our students and our school for helping us achieve this noteworthy designation!
That being said, we are just over halfway to our PTA membership goal—there’s still time to join and support our school community! See our link in our membership section below to sign up.

9/8/2025: We are looking for family members to serve as Classroom Coordinators (formerly Homeroom Parents) for each classroom this year! Below is the link to sign up and become a key part of building a strong connection between home, school, and our PTA.
In addition to supporting your child’s individual classroom activities, the PTA is asking that all Classroom Coordinators:
Be a current PTA member ($6 annual membership)
Attend all PTA meetings, including a dedicated Classroom Coordinator Meeting
(If you're unable to attend a meeting, we ask that you send another parent/family member from your classroom in your place)
Send a brief recap of each PTA meeting to your child’s teacher so it can be shared with other families in your class

8/23/2025: We are changing up the structure of fundraisers this year! This year’s fundraising team has eliminated 6 fundraisers this year and is hoping to eliminate more for next year. We are having two new fundraising events- the first is the Dragon Dash (adapted Fun Run Event), a three-week-long event culminating in a fun run-style event. All students can solicit donations, earn individual prizes, class prizes, and grade-level prizes, such as a water bottle, class pizza & popsicle party, and lunch served by teachers! Because of this change, we are now able to provide 5 free events throughout the school year: Kindergarten Pizza & Playground, STEAM Expo, Spring Fling, Home Run Derby, and the 5th Grade Farewell. Although we have a lofty goal for our Dragon Dash, it is our hope to provide additional events for free in the next school year, such as providing funds for every student at the Gift Market and potentially more! Looking forward to starting the school year strong. 🙂
8/23/2025: What does this money go towards?
PTA membership dues provide essential funds for:
Grade-level field trips and additional educational experiences that happen in the classroom and for the whole school through our arts in education initiatives
Projects for students through our teacher grant program
Community events that connect and make us stronger
This is a form of support: no other commitments come with membership! Meeting attendance is not required, although we would love to have you!
